Next-door's cat

Chimimi, the pedigree Bengal, seems to have moved in. One of her kittens, Snow, died two days ago - she's 13, he was about 12 and a beautiful cream colour. He got something wrong with his digestion and couldn't absorb any nourishment from his food and the vet had to put him down. The lady next door is dreadfully upset as of all four cats (Chimimi, the mum, and her kittens, Snow, Junior (the bully-boy who fights Flad) and timid little Mimi), he was the one she had bonded with most.

Chimimi spent the last two days meowing and wandering about as if looking for him. I've given her lots of fuss and attention and the lady next door said yesterday, 'I think she's your cat now!'

From the way she sits by Flad's bowls waiting for her share...

... and the way she curls up next to my typing chair...

... I think our neighbour might be right!

She's lovely - and it's lovely that she's chosen you.

That cat has such gorgeous markings and looks very dignified. Are all Bengals like that?

I think they are all like that, Joanne. They are very expensive cats. We had to borrow next door's cat carrier tonight and give her back, as she has an infected ear that is being treated. But guess what? Despite the electric fence to keep them in, she has once again made the mighty leap from shed to shed and is back at our door!

The cat doesn't care what she cost, even if her (possibly former) owner might. She only knows where she wants to be and who she wants to be with. Hopefully, her 'owner' loves her enough to be comfortable with that.

Having said that, I do hope that doesn't mean Junior might visit more!:-(

Maybe hed dislikes Flad so much because he knows his Mum likes him? Just a thought!

It's good that she and Flad tolerate each other. She's on a special dry food diet as she had a stomach operation and wet food makes her throw up. But of course she doesn't know that, so last night she scoffed some of Flad's and there was a nasty mess to clear up this morning!
